Course: Technical analysis is the study of prices and related trading data to interpret and understand market action. Although technical analysis is a widely accepted approach, its applications are often obfuscated by jargon and surrounded by mysterious formulas. What are the foundation principles for technical analysis? What information is important in identifying market opportunities and managing risk? Why are charts so important in technical analysis? What are “technical indicators” and how do they help in analyzing markets?

This course is designed to introduce you to technical analysis by presenting basic theory and language as a foundation for understanding the workings, strengths and weaknesses of technical analysis – with particular emphasis on real-world applications of its methods and indicators.

After the course you will be able to:

  • Describe the general theories underlying technical analysis.
  • Explain the importance of market data and charting, and the major methods of charting.
  • Classify indicators such as moving averages and oscillators by their primary uses: trend identification, momentum, etc.
  • Define and identify support and resistance and other critical price levels.
  • Interpret charts and indicators to identify trend and risk.
  • Explain the use and importance of relative strength.

Class Size: Registration is limited to approximately 15 participants to promote student participation and interaction.

Who Should Attend: This course is designed to jumpstart fluency in technical analysis for those with little or no working knowledge of the subject. The content will benefit those considering adding technical analysis to their work, as well as those working alongside technicians who need to understand and speak their language. In addition, the course is a perfect start for those considering further study or accreditation in the field of technical analysis.
