Seminar: This two-day program provides a foundation in the fundamentals of futures and options market theory and practice. To view the course outline click here. This fast-paced course includes lecture and discussion supported by practice exercises and print materials. The course fee includes two must-read books - Futures and Options and the Guide to U.S. Futures Regulation - and PassMaster, a Web-based tutorial with unlimited practice tests for attendees who plan to take the Series 3 exam.

Attention Series 3 exam candidates: This live presentation together with self-study books, and PassMaster provide a blended learning experience. The course covers topics from the market knowledge portion of the Series 3 test. (Major subject areas include trading theory and functions; margins, offset, settlement, delivery; option premiums, exercise, assignment and settlement: orders; hedging; spreading; strategies and calculations.) Exam candidates also should prepare for the regulation portion of the exam on their own by reading and taking the self-tests included in the Guide to U.S Futures Regulations.

Candidates can further practice and refine test-taking skills on market knowledge and regulation before sitting for the actual exam using Series 3 PassMaster, a Web-based tutorial and simulated test program. For more about the Series 3 exam click here.

This seminar is presented by the IFM (a nonprofit educational foundation) to enhance your knowledge and understanding of futures and futures options concepts and is not intended to be a "cram course". As a general guideline, we suggest that you invest 35 to 40 hours preparing for the Series 3 exam and using the books, PassMaster, class workbook and notes.

Class Size: Registration is limited to approximately 15 participants to promote student participation and interaction.

Who should attend: Futures industry professionals, market-users, Series 3 candidates and those who need an in-depth understanding of futures and options markets, their institutions and their participants.
