The Review of Futures Markets (RFM) is an independent, academic journal. It began as a publication of the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) in 1948, and in its infancy, published conference proceedings of traders and academics who gathered to discuss the futures industry. By 1978, the research presented at the events had evolved to a process common in academic circles, and was published in a journal known as the Review of Research in Futures Markets.
In 1985, the journal changed its name to the Review of Futures Markets and presented proceedings of the significant research of international scholars and industry experts. It was published under the auspices of the Chicago Board of Trade until 1994. After that time, the CBOT published only the proceedings of the Futures Research Symposium under the auspices of the CBOT Educational Research Foundation until it was discontinued.
In 2005, The Review of Futures Markets resumed publication in cooperation with the IFM with the Summer edition. The quarterly journal offered peer-reviewed, editor selected articles that expand the literature of futures, options, and derivatives research. The RFM suspended publication in 2016 and is now in hiatus but the Editor has indicated they have plans to renew publication sometime in the future.
The RFM Archives site is not maintained by the IFM and is currently experiencing difficulties. Please check back again.
The journal archives, dating back to 1950, contain a rich volume of research on futures and options markets. A free member account allows you to search by key words, contents, title and author.
