FIA

The IFM is an independent affiliate of the FIA — the leading global trade organization for the futures, options and centrally cleared derivatives markets. It is important to distinguish that as a 501(c)(3) educational foundation, the IFM by law does not attempt to influence the actions, policies, or decisions of regulators or legislators, nor can the IFM participate in any campaign for elected public office.  The IFM has a distinct mission and is governed by Trustees separate and apart from the FIA Board of Directors.

FIA’s membership includes clearing firms, exchanges, clearinghouses, trading firms and commodities specialists from more than 48 countries as well as technology vendors, lawyers and other professionals serving the industry. As the principal members of derivatives clearinghouses worldwide, FIA's clearing firm members play a critical role in the reduction of systemic risk in global financial markets.

FIA’s mission is to:

  • support open, transparent and competitive markets,
  • protect and enhance the integrity of the financial system, and
  • promote high standards of professional conduct.

FIA has offices in London, Brussels, Singapore and Washington, DC. In addition to the IFM, FIA's other affiliates include FIA Japan, FIA European Principal Traders Association (FIA EPTA), FIA Principal Traders Group (FIA PTG) and FIA Technology Services, Inc. (FIA Tech), a wholly-owned for-profit subsidiary of the FIA.
